International observers from 12 countries to monitor Sri Lanka election

Representatives from 12 countries have been invited to observe the 2024 Presidential Election, the National Election Commission announced.

Election Commission Chairman R.M.A.L. Ratnayake said these representatives include those from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and the Maldives.

He further said that Commonwealth election observers and representatives from the Asian Election Observation Network will also be arriving to observe the election.

The Election Commission Chairman revealed that election observers from the European Union (EU) have already arrived in Sri Lanka. He added that the international observers are tasked with monitoring all election activities, including the voting process, and will provide a comprehensive report after the conclusion of the polls.

Young man arrested after dodging checkpoints at airport
